Residential and respite care supporting older adults to live well
Parkdale is a purpose‑built residential care home in Perth & Kinross, providing long‑term and short‑term (respite) care for adults who, due to age or disability, are no longer able to live independently within the community.
Support at Parkdale is tailored to each individual's needs, with a strong focus on dignity, independence and quality of life. The aim is to support people to continue living full and meaningful lives, both within Parkdale and in the wider community.
Who Parkdale supports
Parkdale primarily supports adults aged 65 and over, although individual circumstances can be considered and assessed where appropriate.
Before moving into Parkdale, everyone will have an assessment to ensure that the service is suitable for their needs and that appropriate support can be put in place.

Care and support
Care at Parkdale is person‑centred and responsive to individual needs. Support may include:
- Assistance with daily living and personal care
- Support to maintain independence and routines
- Opportunities to stay socially active and engaged
- Short‑term respite support for individuals and carers
Care is delivered in a respectful, supportive environment that recognises each person's preferences and abilities.
Day care at Parkdale
Parkdale also offers a day care service, operating two days per week (Tuesday and Friday). The service can currently support up to 12 people per day.
Transport is generally provided by:
- The Parkdale minibus
- Pool cars and taxis
- Voluntary drivers
The day care service supports individuals living within approximately a 10‑mile radius.

Accommodation and facilities
Parkdale can accommodate up to 40 residents. Of these:
- 38 rooms are used for permanent residential care
- 1 room is allocated for carer respite
- 1 room is allocated for interim care
The home is arranged into four smaller units, each with:
- 10 en‑suite bedrooms
- Its own lounge and dining area
- An open‑plan kitchen
There are also shared facilities throughout the home, including:
- Communal bathrooms and toilets
- A function hall
- A hairdressing room
Bedrooms are spacious and can accommodate married couples where required.
Charges and contributions
A contribution towards the cost of your stay at Parkdale will usually be required.
Charges are based on individual circumstances and are discussed as part of the assessment and financial review process.

Referrals and pre‑admission assessment
Referrals to Parkdale can be made by:
- The individual themselves
- Family members or friends
- Health or social care professionals
All referrals should be made through Accessing care.
Before a placement is offered, staff will aim to carry out a pre‑admission assessment to ensure Parkdale is the right setting to meet the person's needs.
Quality and inspection
Parkdale is registered, regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate.
